When the weather turns cold and gloomy, there’s only really one sure-fire tonic: a winter warmer. And while you could go the hot chocolate route (with booze, right?), or whip up a hot toddy, my go-to will always be mulled wine. So imagine my pleasure at discovering that a mulled wine trail has launched in London to see us through these colder months!
This winter, Fables & Company has launched a mulled wine trail that takes in some of London’s best wine bars. (Where better, after all, for the best mulled wine, than places that specialise in wine?) Londoners are invited to grab a tankard and wander around the city – filling up on mulled wine as they go.
Along the mulled wine trail
The trail was launched to celebrate the opening of Fables & Company’s newest spot, Quill in Borough Yards. Along the route, mulled wine aficionados will stop off at three venues. As well as Plume, you’ll visit The Mulled Wine Tavern at the Southbank Centre Food Market, and Plume in Covent Garden. At each stop, you’ll get a delicious mulled wine – made according to a secret family recipe!
You can start the trail from either end, at Plume or Quill, where you’ll pick up your tankard and your first mulled wine pour. From there you’ll get to explore the city along the way to the second and third stop. There’s also the option to ‘cocktailify’ your mulled wine at each stop with a splash of Amaretto or Whiskey. Cheeky!
Mulled wine adventurers will be given a trail card, which will be stamped at each location. Fully stamped cards net you a 10% discount at either Plume or Quill. But be sure to visit soon after, because the discount is only valid until December 22.
Said Andrew Gray the founder of Fables & Company:
“We wanted to create a festive experience that brings people together and celebrates the joy of this wintery season. Our mulled wine trail is the perfect way to explore London’s vibrant neighbourhoods while enjoying a warm delicious drink. Plus, who doesn’t love a little adventure with their mulled wine?”
The mulled wine trail costs £30 per person – which includes the cost of the tankard. If you wish to forgo the mug, it costs just £25 to enjoy the trail.
The trail runs on Fridays and Saturdays (12-8pm), and Sundays (12-6pm), until December 22.
