Does anything scream “Christmas is coming!” more than a warming cup of mulled wine? Besides the dozens of Christmas light displays switching on all over the city, of course.
On November 7, Covent Garden will not only deck its halls with giant bells and baubles and hit the ‘on’ switch for over 140,000 lights, but it will also kick off an entire fortnight of festivities dedicated to mulled wine and other Christmassy drinks.
It’s just one event amongst a whole series that proves Covent Garden is once again the best destination for all things Christmas. For two weeks, the Winter Warmer Festival will see bars, restaurants and cafés in the area serving everything from traditional mulled wine and hot chocolates, to mulled rosé and spiced sake. Everything will be available to takeaway or enjoy in — and, of course, there’ll be plenty of festive dishes on offer, too.
Once the festive fortnight of liquid Christmas is over, we have it on good authority that you’ll be able to witness the glittering piazza dusted in flurries of snow or return to stuff your face at their Christmas sandwich festival. But more on that later…
