Ever wondered what a 1930’s American diner with Mediterranean influences would look like?
If you have an Instagram account (or know someone that does), you’ll definitely have images etched into your brain of the pretty in pink restaurant with egg pod loos – also known as sketch. The restaurateur behind sketch’s layout, Mourad Mazouz, has worked his magic on a new eatery in London called Mo Diner! Technically, the diner opened before lockdown but Londoners didn’t get a proper chance to enjoy the venue before Corona came to town. It has since reopened and is already garnering a lot of attention.
Mo Diner boasts stylistic and culinary influences from both 1930’s America and the Mediterranean – perhaps an unlikely pairing, but it works. You’ll notice their traditional diner-style booths, acid yellow Moroccan tiles and palm tree-lined lightboxes, weaved throughout the venue. They’ve also managed to create a little oasis away from London’s chaos in their very green conservatory. We can guarantee there’ll be plenty to feast your eyes on before you’ve even looked at the menu.
Not every restaurant can say that Michelin star chef Eric Chavot created their menu, but this one can. For breakfast, you’ll find everything from a full English to pancakes with 1000 holes! Their all-day menu is equally as extensive with lots of meat, fish, vegetable, sandwich, salad and soup options available. Try their duck confit, grilled octopus or Lamburgerini Merci (pulled pork inside a brioche bun) for innovative flavour combinations that are simply divine.

When it comes to their drinks menu, they’ve really leaned into the old school American diner experience. They offer milkshakes, alcoholic hard shakes and smoothies, as well as their own organic beer.
If you want a memento from your visit, you can pop to Mo Mart next door for the restaurant’s merch. Golden ashtrays, illustrative matchboxes and palm tree-shaped jewellery, will all be aplenty.
To add to all the excitement, your bill will come with a scratch card and one lucky winner each day will get to leave the diner without paying for their meal! I’ll take those odds…
