Netflix still has a few tricks up its sleeve for the lockdown.
Most new filming is a complete no go at the moment. But, Netflix can reach down into its vault of goodies and bring out some pre-quarantine footage for viewers. And, they’ve pulled out a big one here.
‘Becoming’ is the new documentary on the life of Michelle Obama. It follows the same name as the former US first lady’s 2018 best-selling book. Watch the trailer for ‘Becoming’ here:
Dropping on May 6, ‘Becoming’ will follow Michelle Obama’s 34-city tour after the release of her memoir. Directed by Nadia Hallgren, it follows the first lady alongside Barack Obama transitioning from the hectic life inside the White House.
“Those months I spent travelling—meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe—drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” said Michelle Obama.
“In groups large and small, young and old, unique and united, we came together and shared stories, filling those spaces with our joys, worries, and dreams. We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘Becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud.”
Her book of the same name became an instant best-seller when it dropped in November 2018. The book discusses a wide breadth of topics, such as her upbringing, family life and her marriage to the president. The documentary will be available on Netflix next week, from May 6.
