Crisp crusts and flavourful fillings. What else would you expect from a Michelin-starred chef?
If you’re potty for pies and pretty passionate about gin then we have found the perfect place for you. The notorious Holborn Dining Room have just launched their Guest Series Fundraiser — serving up £8 Michein-starred pies to raise money for Hospitality Aid — and we have to say, it looks pretty delicious.
Calum Franklin, Head Chef and king of crumbly pastry, came up with the idea to invite some of the UK’s biggest and best chefs to create a whole host of new pies for each month’s menu. Unsurprisingly, there isn’t a soggy bottom in sight.
First up is Tom Kerridge. And, considering his pub is the only one in the UK to hold two Michelin stars, we have pretty high hopes for his pastry. His steak and blue cheese pie, complete with Rebellion ale and onion gravy, is a forced to be reckoned with. For only eight quid, you can’t really complain.
From February 1 to the end of the month, you can scoff this steak and blue cheese sensation every lunchtime. Grab it to go, but first, maybe have a little look at the restaurant’s ridiculous gin selection.
When it comes to the unofficial spirit of London, Holborn Dining Room has created the ultimate shrine. Featuring over 500 different varieties, the restaurant’s Gin Bar offers London’s largest selection of gin, alongside 30 varieties of tonic. Stocking well-known brands alongside offerings from small-batch and local distillers, even the most dedicated gin enthusiasts could find something new to try here.
Complete with an impressive copper-topped bar, and over 14,000 unique pairings of gin and mixer on offer, this is basically the backlit juniper temple you’ve been dreaming of.
Home to some of Britain’s best beverages and now serving up mouth-watering Michelin-starred pies for just £8, Holborn Dining Room is officially doing bits for the city. Pop down to get your mitts on some seriously delicious grub to take away.
