But the Michelin star street food is here for three days only.
Street food in London has been quietly raising the culinary game for a while now. However, things are about to kick up another notch, when the first Michelin star winning street food chef sets up residence in Kings Cross. Chan Hong Men, affectionately nicknamed Hawker Chan, is flying into London to serve his award-winning Singaporean food to hangry Londoners. You’re going to have to be swift to get your hands on some, though.
That’s because Hawker Chan is only making a quick pitstop. He’ll be at KERB in Kings Cross for three days only (March 14th-16th), between 12 and 2pm. The upside is, he’ll be whipping up his famed “Soya Sauce Chicken & Rice” box for just £6, which officially makes it the cheapest Michelin starred food in London. On the downside, there’s only 200 portions on offer each day, so brace yourselves for huge queues and possible disappointment. Michelin star street food never did come easy, after all…
Hawker Chan’s Singapore eatery made food history in 2016 when it was awarded the first Michelin star ever given to a street food vendor. Handily, this also made it the cheapest Michelin star food in the world, which explains why hordes of tourists and locals alike flock to the tiny hatch. His jaunt to the Big Smoke is all part of upping Singapore’s tourist game. This culinary escapade is brought to you by Singapore Airlines, who dreamt up this PR stunt to tout for business. However, if I can get amazing street food from across the globe without having to schlep it out to Gatwick, then I say bring on all the shameless PR stunts!
Hawker Chan is in residence from Wednesday 14th March to Friday 16th March. Find KERB Kings Cross in
