This lovely, summery basement will transport you straight to Italy.
Drinking martinis under a sunlit canopy of olive trees and vines? In Southwark?! Why yes, of course. Gordon Ramsay’s Olive Grove pop-up has taken over Union Street Café’s basement bar and, well, it allows you to do just that.
The concept is focused on showcasing the humble olive, and both the cocktail and food menus have been designed to pay homage to the various ways olives can be enjoyed. There’s even olive oil in the cocktails and, weirdly, it works beautifully.
Dishes include cauliflower “fritti” and cheese fondue, pecorino and truffle chips, and ricotta and walnut bruschetta. So it’s safe to say they sound pretty dreamy. So, what’re you waiting for? Book a table and while away your evening with cocktails and nibbles in this stunning setting.
Location: Union Street Café, 47-51 Great Suffolk Street, SE1 0BS. Nearest station: Southwark. (Find it on Google Maps.)
