Londoners heading out this weekend should brace for another round of travel disruption, with closures and partial suspensions affecting several Tube, DLR and Overground services across April 11 and 12.
The biggest hit will be to the Circle and District lines, while the DLR, Piccadilly, Mildmay, Lioness and Elizabeth lines also face planned changes.
The good news is that this weekend’s disruption is not as widespread as the Easter bank holiday chaos, but it is still worth checking your route before you leave.
TfL’s planned-closures list shows works spread across central, west and east London, with some services only affected for short windows and others shut for the whole weekend.
Tube and train closures April 10-12
Here’s the full list of planned disruption for Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12:
- Circle line: no trains between Edgware Road and Tower Hill on both days.
- District line: no service between Embankment/Edgware Road and Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), Richmond and Wimbledon.
- Piccadilly line: no trains between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town from 1am to 7am on Saturday April 11.
- DLR: no service between Bank/Tower Gateway and Poplar/West India Quay on Saturday and Sunday.
- Mildmay line: no trains between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm on Sunday April 12.
- Elizabeth line: no trains between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am on Sunday April 12, with a reduced service after that.
- Lioness line: no trains between Kilburn High Road and Euston after 10pm on Sunday April 12.
- Waterloo and City line: closed at weekends as usual.
TfL also says eastbound trains will not stop at Barons Court until June, which will continue to affect some District and Piccadilly line journeys.
Most disruptive closures are the Circle and District line works
The most disruptive closures are the Circle and District line works, which cover a broad stretch of west and central London and are likely to force passengers onto replacement routes or other lines.
The DLR closure between Bank, Tower Gateway, Poplar and West India Quay will also affect journeys through the City and Docklands.
Some of the other changes are limited to late-night or early-morning periods, so travellers using the network on Saturday night or Sunday evening should pay particular attention.
That includes the Mildmay and Lioness line closures, plus the early Sunday disruption on the Elizabeth line.
Travel advice
TfL advises passengers to check before they travel and allow extra time, especially if their journey involves changing between lines. For anyone heading to events, shopping districts or airport connections this weekend, it is worth building in a backup route.
