The temperature in London over the past few weeks has been temperamental, to say the least. And it seems as though that won’t be changing any time soon, as the weather forecast for the bank holiday weekend is as erratic as ever.
Today (May 1), the capital city could be treated to its warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures set to reach rather dizzying heights. According to BBC Weather, London will be basking in 25°C sunshine this afternoon. So, the very moment you slam that laptop shut, I’d highly recommend you hotfooting it straight to your nearest park, rooftop bar, or beer garden. Because that was the good news, folks – but unfortunately there is some bad news.
Apparently the phrase ‘what goes up must come down’ also applies to the temperature in London. Bank holiday spirits could be slightly dampened by forecasted rain, which is set to start on Saturday afternoon and sporadically continue throughout the entire weekend. The temperature will also steadily drop throughout the weekend.

This rather sudden change in the weather comes courtesy of the high pressure that’s been looming over the UK recently. The high pressure has resulted in us having very few April showers. But it’s now moving away, meaning that it’ll no longer blocking the chillier winds heading over to us from the Atlantic Ocean.
Fear not, though. There are still set to be plenty of (slightly fleeting) sunny spells over the weekend. So, there’s a chance that you’ll still be able to spend the bank holiday in the way it was intended: sat in a beer garden with a nice, refreshing pint in hand, of course.
