The city scored highly in TripAdvisor’s travel destination roundup.
We all know how much our beloved London has to offer (well, at least when we’re not all confined to our flats), so we’re not surprised that it has been ranked one of TripAdvisor‘s best travel destinations in the world for 2021. True, we were pipped to the number one spot in their Best of the Best list by Bali, but since they’ve got jaw-dropping beaches and a tropical climate, I feel like it was always an uphill climb to the top.
In dubbing London the second best travel destination in the world this year, TripAdvisor namechecked “Shoreditch’s swaggering style” and “Camden’s punky vibe”, to declare that “London is many worlds in one.” Can’t argue with that, I guess, although if you’ve never been to London, please let me tell you that there are in fact other excellent places besides Shoreditch and Camden to enjoy during your next visit here.
Homing in on what makes London brilliant is tough, but TripAdvisor reckons that Michelin star restaurants, cosy pubs, and long wanders down lovely London streets should be high on your itinerary. Of course, doing all those things will be way easier once the lockdown is over and London can go back to being the greatest city on Earth in earnest, but they’re a great place to start, especially with international travel looking tricky for the foreseeable. We’ve got a fair few ideas on what to do in the capital as well, and as the survey notes “when it comes to London, the possibilities are endless.” Ain’t that the truth?
