You can snooze your way to Dublin on the London to Dublin bus which has just returned after a short hiatus. It will set you back €39 (£33) one way or €70 (£59) return if you book the right seats and the best part is that you don’t have to deal with airport queues!
Bus Éireann used to run these Dublin to London buses before the pandemic and now they’ve announced the return of the Expressway Euroline service. This will be music to the ears of those who don’t like flying but want to explore the British capital or visit family and friends.
You can book tickets on the Expressway website and the service runs twice a week. Buses depart from Victoria Coach Station on Fridays and Sundays at around 6pm, stopping at Birmingham on the way. So, you need not travel all the way to Dublin if you’re actually more interested in the Midlands of England!
Routes from Dublin to London leave on Thursdays and Sundays with passengers boarding the bus at Busáras with check-in from 7.15pm and reach London by 8am the next day. It’s a long trip but after a few hours, most people will probably fall asleep anyway.
Of course, the bus cannot sail across the Irish Sea on its own. The coach boards a ferry to cross over to Ireland (and back to the UK on the return), which is fantastic if you love being on the water like I do. Imagine those stunning views as you sail over to beautiful Ireland from England.

Head of Expressway, Andrew Yates, describes the coaches as ‘top-end new coaches with extra comfortable seating’, which we love to hear and tickets are available now. Coach and train travel seems to be increasing in popularity recently. Not just because flying can be a faff, either. Coach and rail travel can offer a more eco-friendly alternative to flying and we’re certainly on board!
