Eurostar Looks Set To Run More Amsterdam-London And Paris-London Services From This Month

You’ll be drowning in wine and/or stroopwafels in no time!

People travelling to the UK collectively breathed a sigh of relief on Monday, August 2 as the rules on entering the country changed. Since that date, travellers from the EU who have has both jabs can visit the UK without having to quarantine on arrival if they test negative for Covid-19, and this couldn’t be better news for Eurostar.

Later this month, trains between London and Paris will pick up the pace, becoming more frequent as travel across Europe slowly starts to reopen. And, there is a chance that after this, more Eurostar journies between London and Amsterdam will commence.

Currently, the need to quarantine upon arrival from France and The Netherlands does not apply to those who have been fully vaccinated. Plus, those heading to France will now be able to enter if they’ve had both jabs. However, the UK remains on the high-risk list for The Netherlands.

Eurostar has said that frequency of journeys between Amsterdam and London will increase “once measures have been relaxed”. It can be more convenient to travel by rail than by air, and it’s better for the environment too, so countless Amsterdammers with family in the UK and vice versa will be pleased by the news.

Train services were hit hard by the pandemic, with the number of passengers on the Eurostar falling by 95 per cent and service reduced to just one train per day. Travel restrictions being lifted is sure to help the service make steps towards returning to normal.

Remember, if you’re coming into the UK from either country, there are still steps to be followed. Visitors need to provide a Digital Coronavirus Certificate and take a government-approved Covid-19 test on day 2 of their stay.
