Millions of Londoners have voted in the 2026 local elections, with all 32 boroughs contesting council seats and five boroughs also choosing mayors.
The first results point to a mixed night across the capital, with the Conservatives taking Westminster from Labour, the Liberal Democrats sweeping Richmond upon Thames and holding Sutton, and Reform UK winning Havering.
Labour, which was defending the most councils, has so far held several key boroughs but has also suffered losses in some high-profile areas.
Labour’s Forhad Hussain has been elected mayor of Newham, while the Green Party’s Zoe Garbett secured victory in Hackney
The results suggest gains for the Greens and Reform in some parts of London, while the Liberal Democrats have made clear advances in outer London.
