Costa del Londres is imminent, thanks to a July heatwave!
While travelling abroad has been virtually off the cards for, I don’t know, about 100 years now, we can finally feel like we’re being compensated a little bit with a drop of good weather due for arrival in London. June’s promised heatwave may have been a little stop-start, but that’s all about to change with the arrival of this weekend (July 17/18).
Starting with a fairly impressive 26°C today (Friday, July 16), the temperature is expected to soar over the weekend, with highs of 28°C on Saturday, and a scorching 30°C on Sunday. Couple that with cloudless skies and a light breeze, and we’re steaming towards a truly glorious weekend of weather, whether you’re camping out in the pub garden, cooling off in a London lido, or visiting somewhere amazing.
Those kind of temperatures put London on a par with Ibiza (for the weekend, at least), and no doubt means that plenty of Londoners will be escaping the capital to hit the beach. Though next week isn’t quite as rosy an outlook, we’re not scheduled to return to any unseasonal weather just yet; the BBC is forecast temperatures of 23-26°C through to late July, although we may see a little more cloud. Grab your sunnies, don’t forget the suncream, and bring on the weekend!
