Hackney’s swimmers can take a dip in the glorious London Fields Lido this spring.
For a toasty dip, East Londoners need only to pop along to London Fields Lido for a swim in their heated pool. The 50-metre outdoor swimming pool is reopening to the public under England’s lockdown rules on March 29, once again allowing us to hop into 25℃ waters. It’s perfect for a refreshing swim year-round, whatever the weather. Like these hardy souls taking a January morning dip! [Header photo: Peter Smith]

The lido has been a favourite amongst Londoners for a while, but was forced to close in April 2017 after problems were found with the tile lining. After undergoing some smart renovations, London Fields Lido reopened that December, and has proved immensely popular even since. I guess the toasty temperatures have something to do with it…

Plus, during the long winter nights, the lido is floodlit, so you can backstroke beneath the stars. (Not that you’ll be able to see ’em.)
Whilst the contractors were repairing the pool itself, they also taken the opportunity to refurbish the changing rooms and other facilities during the closure, which was jolly nice. You’ll find sessions for lane swimming, group lessons, one-to-one swimming lessons, and swimfit sessions here – plus, there’s a big sundeck and sunbathing area to laze about during the long summer days we’re soon to enjoy.
