London is home to a wealth of incredible pizza spots, from New York-style slice spots to pizzerias set up by MICHELIN-starred chefs. Our city even has its own style of ‘London’ pizza, mashing together international influences into a delicious pie with a crispy base. And now, it’s also officially home to the very best pizzeria in the world.
50 Top Pizza unveiled its list of the very best pizzerias in the whole world this week, and none other than London’s own Napoli on the Road took the #1 spot. In doing so, it beat out legendary spots from New York, LA, and Tokyo, as well as a number of top Italian spots. Yup – we beat the Italians at their own game!
“Such high recognition from Top 50 Pizza is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says founder Michele Pascarella, commenting on the win. “This award is the culmination of hard work over many years, from starting small in an Ape Piaggio to now running three restaurants across London. I share this award with my teams in Chiswick, Richmond and Soho, who share my commitment and passion for great pizza every day.”
The best pizzerias in the world
According to 50 Top Pizza, these are the 10 best pizzerias in the world:
- Napoli on the Road – London, England (#1)
- Una Pizza Napoletana – New York, USA (#2)
- Confine – Milan, Italy (#3)
- I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci – Caserta, Italy (tied for #4)
- Seu Pizza Illuminati – Rome, Italy (tied for #4)
- Pizzeria Sei – Los Angeles, USA (tied for #5)
- Tony’s Pizza Napoletana – San Francisco, USA (tied for #5)
- Leggera Pizza Napoletana – São Paulo, Brazil (#6)
- RistoPizza by Napoli sta ca – Tokyo, Japan (#7)
- Baldoria – Madrid, Spain (#8)
- The Pizza Bar on 38th – Tokyo, Japan (#9)
- Razza – Jersey City, USA (#10)
Another London pizzeria also made the list. 50 Kalò took the 23rd spot in the top 50 list.
Napoli on the Road
Now, this is hardly the first award for Michele and Napoli on the Road. Indeed, 50 Top Pizza has been (rightly) championing the pizzeria for a number of years. In recent years, Napoli on the Road has also received the following titles and awards:

The latest accolade comes in the wake of a particularly busy and productive period for the Napoli on the Road group. They recently opened their biggest site yet, in Soho. And they also launched their first-ever pizza tasting menu.
