Bring the joy of live music to your home with the next instalment of ‘Lockdown Live‘.
We can’t bring you the sweaty strangers I’m afraid, but we can certainly bring you the buzz of being in a live audience. As part of our ‘Lockdown Live’ series, curated in partnership with Martell, we’re spotlighting some of the UK’s most exciting local musicians. Next up is 25-year-old, Croydon-based rapper Jords, playing to a live audience on Friday, May 22.
Jords will be serenading Secret London followers on Friday, May 22, from 7pm. Performing tracks from his recent EP, AAA (Almost An Adult), alongside some of his earlier stuff, you can expect an emotional and relatable performance. Jords fearlessly show his vulnerabilities, introspectively rapping over soulful production that mirrors early-J Cole and Wretch 32, two of his heroes. Jords is an incredibly versatile artist, with his tracks ranging from “atmospheric trap bangers” to “sugary, serotonin-heavy R&B”. He’ll make you think, but also make you want to dance.
Jords produces the majority of his music at home in his bedroom, which should serve as inspiration to us all in lockdown. He says: “Being self-produced gives me more freedom and it means I can ensure everything sounds like it does in my head. It makes the music more personal.”
Each week on Lockdown Live, talented local creatives will take over our Instagram live feed, bringing you beautiful music or teaching you something new in the kitchen. On Tuesday, May 12, Chef James Cochran from 12:51 in Islington took over the Secret London Instagram feed to cook up some delicious Martell-glazed chicken wings — and we can’t wait to show you what else we have in store.
