If you’re eagerly awaiting the return of everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure Emily in Paris, then we have some exciting news for you. Actress and Netflix icon Lily Collins is set to star in an all-new theatre production on its way to London’s West End.
However, the play is going to be a bit different to Collins’ hilarious adventures in the French capital, as the show is a jump-scare thriller based in the Spanish city of Barcelona.
Intrinsically titled Barcelona, the must-see play is a seductive take on the thriller genre, in which an American tourist goes home with a handsome Spaniard before things take an unexpected turn to the dark side. Politics and personal views intertwine with this care-free one-night stand, resulting in a corker of a mystery that’ll leave audiences guessing and gripped.
The play is written by Bess Wohl and will be directed by BAFTA-winner Lynette Linton. Collins’ co-star will be none other than fellow Netflix alumni (and total hunk) Álvaro Morte, who featured in the hit series Money Heist, and is also making his stage debut with this anticipated production.
Collins took to Instagram to announce her newest project, stating: “It’s honestly a dream come true to be able to say that in October I will be making my stage debut on the West End in a play I fell in love with from the moment I read it.
“It’s called Barcelona and I will be starring alongside the amazing Álvaro Morte. Rehearsals start very very soon and I cannot wait!”
Barcelona will be playing at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre for 12 weeks only, so be sure to catch it while you can! The show begins on October 21, 2024, and will finish on January 11, 2025.
Ticket prices begin at £25 and there’s even an online lottery, where 200 tickets (including the front row of every performance) will be available for the same price of £25 (should you win, of course).
