There’s few things Londoners love more than a weekend stroll, in search of tasty morsels and something delicious to drink. So it’s no wonder that food markets are such a popular pastime among us city dwellers. And it just so happens, there’s an exciting new foodie venture arriving in London for just three days this month. The Laphroaig Market, created in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens, is coming to Borough Yards on April 21-23. And it promises to be an interactive culinary experience like no other!
What pre-dining ritual could be more thrilling than browsing market stalls, abundant with delicious fresh produce? The different vendors will be on hand to talk you through the variety of incredible ingredients being used in the dishes. All six of the unique dishes on offer have been designed by Tom Aikens exclusively for The Laphroaig Market, using flavour profiles that perfectly accentuate the unmatched flavour of Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky. And once you’ve chosen your dish, you can watch your meal being prepared by Tom Aikens and his team on an open fire.
Included in your ticket is one main dish and bespoke Laphroaig cocktail or dram, served at the Laphroaig bar. Sip this alongside your meal and savour the bold notes of fire, salt and peat (the key characteristics of Laphroaig’s signature taste!) with every mouthful.
Throughout the market you can browse stalls from different food producers, such as Turnips, Spice Mountain, Shellseekers and Fish & Game, to name just a few. Each has been selected for their shared passion for seasonal ingredients and dedication to creating outstanding flavours, brought together in a celebration of some of London’s most interesting culinary pioneers today. The creativity and innovation poured into these dishes is testament to that – you’ll see for yourself when you taste them!
Dishes on offer include lobster roll with sudachi, spiced mayo, nori and fried cabbage or steak ribeye with Laphroaig 10 years old shallot sauce, grilled onion. For a meat-free option, cold smoked and charred cabbage with fermented grains and gremolata is just one of the delectable dishes on offer.
The Laphroaig Market is open 12pm-8pm April 21-23 and tickets are £25.
