If you’re in the mood for some outrageously delicious French food but have neither the time or the money to hop on the Eurostar every time those continental cravings kick in, fear not. There’s a simply fantastique little spot right here in the capital city, serving up authentic French food, an oh-so inviting atmosphere, and interiors so gorgeous, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped into the scene of an oil painting.
La Poule au Pot
Part of the Belgravia furniture at this point, La Poule au Pot is absolutely everything you’d want, need and expect from a fancy French restaurant – without being even the slightest bit pretentious. Quite possibly the quaintest restaurant in the capital, La Poule au Pot oozes French farmhouse vibes -and is filled with intimate nooks, cosy crannies, and some truly dreamy decor.

The restaurant is a picture-perfect recreation of ‘paysan’ France. Think exposed brick walls, wicker baskets overflowing with gorgeous dried flowers, and a whole host of knick-knacks and trinkets scattered around the place. It feels a bit like you’ve stepped into the warm and welcoming living room of a relative. Well, if that particular relative could also whip up some sensational French delicacies, that is.
On the subject of delicious dishes, the menu is jam-packed with authentic French classics. From French onion soup and escargots to perfectly-cooked steak and frites and veal in a creamy mushroom sauce; everything is cooked to perfection.

La Poule au Pot swung open its doors in 1962 and has barely changed since then, still delivering an irresistibly cosy atmosphere and vibes as high as the standard of the food itself. Bon Appetit, indeed.
