We sure do have some good-looking gardens in the UK. But with over 270,000 to choose from, it’s difficult to know which of them will be the biggest treat for the eyes (and the iPhones). Luckily for us, the life insurance team over at Compare the Market did the hard work for us. They trawled through the internet, dissected the data, crunched the numbers, and have revealed which gardens are, in fact, the most Insta-worthy in the country. Even more luckily for us, topping the leafy green charts is a public garden right here in the capital city. How tree-mendous is that?
Taking the top spot is Kew Gardens; a glorious green space, well worth travelling the entire breadth of the District Line (and the country) for. Kew Gardens managed to nab the shiny Insta crown, not only because it looks blooming gorgeous in every single picture, but because over 700,000 photos have been posted on Instagram with the hashtag #KewGardens. On top of that, the gardens receives a rather hefty 301,000 monthly Google searches on average. Not bad, hey?
Why should you visit Kew Gardens?
I mean, the question you should really be asking is why shouldn’t you pay Kew Gardens a visit. Firstly, they boast one of the most diverse collections of living plants in the world, with over 50,000 plants sprawled across the 300 acres. And so – as you can imagine – the gardens are bursting at the seams with beautiful backdrops, waiting to be immortalised on your camera roll.
From the tropical trees (and the ever so aesthetically pleasing iron staircase) of the Palm House to the Great Pagoda and the (mildly terrifying) Treetop Walkway. There’s so much to do, see, and – let’s face it – take pictures of to inevitably caption ‘an unbe-leaf-able day out’. And now that school’s out for summer and the sun is (intermittently) shining; there’s never been a better time to head to the leafy labyrinth that is Kew Gardens.
