Smash burgers are exactly how they sound, and they’re enjoying a real moment right now. Just yesterday, it was announced that Copenhagen favourites Gasoline Grill would be bringing a pop-up to the city, and today we have news that French smash burger aficionados ‘Junk’ have just opened up a new London site which you can head over and try right now!
In their first venture outside of France, Junk has opened up on Old Compton Street, and they’ll be slinging the smashed patties with secret junk sauce to the Soho faithful.

Junk are offering a minimalist menu, with options including their classic cheeseburger with American cheese and Junk sauce (ketchup, mustard, mayo, and a set of secret spices). You’ll also be able to chomp down on an indulgent truffle double cheeseburger with house-fried onions and their own truffle sauce; as well as their veggie burger made up of cauliflower potatoes and emmental panko breadcrumbs.
The group is the brainchild of entrepreneur Majed Mansour and self-taught Wissam Ben Ammar, and on if you’re in France, you’ll spot them in Paris, Neuilly, Lyon, Strasbourg, Lille, Bordeaux, and Toulouse.
Speaking on the new opening, founders Mansour and Ben Ammar say; “We are thrilled to bring Junk and Puffy to London. We can’t wait to share our passion for smash burgers with the London community. The excitement is palpable, and we are eager to see Londoners embracing our brands. Bringing our chain of Street Food restaurants to this city has been a dream for us since the start of this journey.”
‘Junk’ has opened up at 49 Old Compton Street, W1D 6HL (the nearest station is Tottenham Court Road) in September. You can find them at their website here.
