Drinkers heading into town are in for a treat this week, as six London pubs will be pouring complimentary drinks thanks to Joe Lycett. The comedian and Celebrity Traitors star announced the move during the finale of his Channel 4 show, Love From The Lycett Arms, confirming he is putting money behind the bar at 30 establishments across the UK.
Lycett launched the campaign to spotlight the ongoing crisis of British pub closures, noting that beloved venues currently shut at an alarming rate of two per day. Consequently, he handpicked six renowned London venues to encourage locals to pack out their neighbourhood boozers.
Which London pubs is Joe Lycett funding the tabs of this Friday?
On the list for London are The Old Ivy in Clerkenwell, The Miller in London Bridge, Signature Brew in Haggerston, London, The Crown and Greyhound in Dulwich, The Dodo in Hanwell and finally Mikkeller Pub Shoreditch.
Staff anticipate the funded tab on Friday 16th; however, organisers have not yet confirmed the exact start time.
Star-studded support for regional boozers
London’s participating spots sit within a broader roster shaped by Lycett’s famous friends. Fellow Celebrity Traitors Faithful and Coronation Street favourite Julie Hesmondhalgh selected The Crown in her hometown of Accrington. Former cobbles actor Adam Rickitt, who played Nick Tilsley across two eras, also contributed by putting forward his own bar in Knutsford.
Beyond London, the initiative reaches watering holes across Manchester, Brighton, Bath, Northampton, and Kent. However, for London locals, Friday offers a prime excuse to celebrate the city’s rich pub heritage with a pint on the house.
