All the talk has been about whether Oasis will be returning to the hallowed turf of Knebworth, but Iron Maiden have got in ahead and announced an entire weekend event at the space next summer. As part of the extended 50th anniversary ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour, the metal band will headline the field on Saturday, July 11, only playing material from their first nine albums (Iron Maiden to Fear Of The Dark).
A carefully curated set of opening acts will join Maiden on the bill, which includes The Darkness, The Hu, Airbourne, and The Almighty. Though the show itself takes place on the Saturday, a set of camping options will be available to extend the event across the weekend, starting on Friday, July 10, with the biggest ‘Eddie’s Dive Bar’ ever, and Iron Maiden-themed food & drink stands plus other stalls scattered around the grounds.

It marks a return to Knebworth for Maiden, who headlined Sonsisphere Festival at the grounds in 2010 and 2014, the last year the event ran. This time, they’re putting on the show themselves for a celebration of the band’s career.
Speaking on the announcement, Rod Smallwood, manager of Iron Maiden, said: “We knew that we had to bring the Run For Your Lives show back to the UK again next summer as there was such a phenomenal demand for tickets but we wanted to do something a bit different to try and top the show at London Stadium!
Well, we think that Knebworth is the solution – we have history there with our headline appearances at Sonisphere some years ago and this time we will be taking over the whole of the grounds ourselves and turning it into as much of a ‘Maiden World’ as we can for all our fans to enjoy!”
