It’s no secret that London likes to have (and – let’s face it – show off about having) the biggest and best of things. So it will probably come as no surprise to you that the brand new immersive entertainment development that’s on its way to the capital is going to be pretty bloomin’ hefty. The largest in the UK, in fact.
Immerse LDN is the brand-new, purpose-built district dedicated entirely to showcasing world-class immersive and interactive experiences. Located in London’s Royal Docks, the venue is set to cover 160,000 square-feet once complete (see, I told you it was going to be big), and this summer will see ExCeL London launch the first phases of the development.
What can you expect to see at Immerse LDN?
Immerse LDN plans to bring together the best in the business, showcasing the biggest interactive experiences and immersive entertainment brands from across TV, film, music, art and gaming. All set against the dreamy backdrop of ExCeL’s newly developed waterfront.
August will see the arrival of Immerse LDN’s first immersive experiences. The FRIENDS™ Experience: The One In London will give Londoners the chance to step inside their favourite TV show and discover recreated sets, iconic backdrops and a healthy dollop of nostalgia. The Formula 1® Exhibition is an exhilarating, interactive insight into the extraordinary world of Formula 1 racing. It will be well worth making a pit-stop for, that’s for sure. More exciting experiences will be announced over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for those.
All that entertainment is sure to work up your appetite, so it’s pretty handy that Immerse LDN will also be home to a fairly impressive food and drink offering. Visitors can expect to see some London street food favourites such as Duck Shed, Masa Taqueria, Nazari and Hej, courtesy of KERB. A shiny new waterside bar and café is also set to be built later in the year.
Immerse LDN is part of ExCeL’s £300 million investment and will contribute hugely to the Royal Docks regeneration plan. The plan aims to bring an additional 2.5 million visitors to the area every year and create hundreds of new jobs.
Damian Norman, Director of Immersive Entertainment & Events at ExCeL London, commented: “ExCeL London is already synonymous as the home of world-leading events. Now we want to build on that and create a space where guests, both local and international, can enjoy the very best of immersive and experiential entertainment in one place.”
He added: “Offering something for everyone, Immerse LDN aspires to become a destination in its own right, where guests can explore experiences, enjoy food and drink with friends or embark on a family day out, all set against the striking waterfront of the Royal Docks.”
