As gentleman racer Graham Hill so eloquently put it “I am an artist. The track is my canvas and the car is my brush”. It seems only fitting that F1® The Exhibition will soon be rubbing shoulders with London’s array of art experiences, opening at the ExCel Centre on August 23. The exhibition is an epic insight into the world of Formula 1 racing, inviting fans to explore its rich historical roots, present-day attractions and exciting future innovations. You’ll not only get up close to iconic F1® championship-winning cars and fascinating memorabilia, but also enjoy a sneak peek at upcoming technologies that will shape the future of the sport as you know it.
F1® The Exhibition has already thrilled visitors in Madrid, Vienna and Toronto. The opening show in Madrid was the biggest temporary exhibition of the year in Spain, followed by a record-breaking run in Vienna in terms of sales. Now, London is set to follow in their tyre tracks with a number of exciting new additions. It’s an unmissable opportunity to see some exclusive artefacts – including the charred remains of Grosjean’s chassis – and celebrate the drivers, past and present, who make Formula 1® what it is today.
What can you expect at F1® The Exhibition in London?
Formula 1® fans, you better buckle up. The London Formula 1® exhibition is stepping things up a gear, collaborating with the Silverstone Museum to shine a spotlight on the British Grand Prix’s pivotal role in the history of motorsport racing. Plus, in a European first, visitors can experience what it feels like to sit in a real F1® driving position behind the wheel of an F1® car, with a state-of-the-art simulator that recreates timed laps around the iconic Silverstone track. Remember to follow the race line!
The pioneering exhibition will transport you into the beating heart of the F1® universe, with an immersive design that brings to life the sights and sounds of a modern-day race. As you journey through rooms you’ll be able to enjoy defining moments from the sport: get a glimpse behind the scenes of a Formula 1® factory, discover the stories behind drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, gaze in wonder at breakthrough technologies and even take a moment to reflect on the crucial safety innovations that made it possible for Romain Grosjean to walk away from his burning HAAS race car in 2020.
F1® The Exhibition is possible thanks to the contributions of legendary drivers, teams and experts who have ensured an authentic and unforgettable experience for fans young and old. Over the course of an hour, you’ll take in an extensive collection of memorabilia, rare film and photography, artefacts and, of course, iconic cars – all of which have played a part in making Formula 1® the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition.
