Ask someone where you can get the best steak in the city, and you’ll receive all sorts of answers. Some will tell you to go to a blow-out steakhouse, while others will tell you to try out a Brazilian Churrascaria. But according to the carnivorous experts behind the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list, one London spot rises to the top.
Their pick from London’s many steak-y spots? Ibai – a Basque-style restaurant that opened just a few years ago. The World’s 101 Best team ranked it the 7th best steak restaurant in the entire world. In turn, it’s the highest-ranking steak restaurant in the UK.
Calling it “one of the most distinctive grill-led restaurants in London“, World’s 101 Best praised Ibai for careful sourcing of produce, respect for Basque tradition, and “dishes that speak to Basque instincts while fitting naturally into London”. They also applauded the restaurant’s continual drive for improvement.
Ibai was also recognised for being the first restaurant in the UK to be awarded The Beef Advocate – Global Meat Standard Certification. This highlights how carefully the team at Ibai source their meat.
The world’s best steak restaurants

In addition to the rankings, the list revealed a brand new category: the Hall of Fire – The Best of the Best. This special honour was bestowed upon Parrilla Don Julio in Buenos Aires. After taking the number one spot for three years in a row, they’ve now ascended beyond the ranking into a special new distinction.
