A corner shop is probably pretty low on the list of where one would get think to get a hearty warm meal, but this Indian takeaway tucked in the back of an off-license in the heart of Shoreditch is here to prove you wrong. Tucked within The Shoreditch Stop newsagent is The Daily Dose which is the very definition of a hidden gem and is a great spot for some cheap eats.
For the low low price of £5, you can load up your bed of rice (either white, brown or pilau) with your choice of two delicious and authentically homemade Indian curries from the menu. Although not quite cheap enough to rival the good old Tesco meal deal, £5 for a hot, filling and flavoursome curry is still an absolute steal and pretty impressive considering the ever-rising costs of just about everything in London. Samosas, poppadums, bhajis, and chutneys are also available if you’re looking for some smaller snacks or want to load up your curry even more – which we do heartily recommend.
Deciding the day’s lunchtime spot can be tricky in London considering there are quite literally endless choices to grab your midday meal. The Daily Dose is an example of finding a gem where you least expect it and makes for a cool little spot to grab some grub.
It’s a not-so-secret secret as the line coming out the front door during lunchtime is a dead giveaway of how popular the spot is, but also that they can make some pretty darn good (and darn cheap) Indian food that keep the hungry folks of East London coming back.
