The Knight Bus has come out of retirement… kind of.
Yes, that bus for stranded witches and wizards was of great use to Harry Potter in The Prisoner Of Azkaban. But now it’s been reimagined into something different. More real, but certainly no less magical. [Featured Image: Warner Bros]
A Harry Potter-themed bus is being put to use to help transport our healthcare workers around for free. These buses are generally used to take visitors around on the Warner Bros studio tour but, since we’re all on lockdown, no tours are happening right now.
NHS workers are putting themselves at risk every day on the frontline of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. So, three of these tour buses have been offered up in Hertfordshire as transport for these key workers.
The difference to Harry Potter’s bus-riding experience is that on this bus workers will still need to practice social distancing. And it sadly won’t take them to Hogwarts. However, all three buses are pimped out with scenes from Harry Potter films.
Paul da Gama, from the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Our workforce has been depleted due to sickness or self-isolation and so it’s really important that those staff who are well, but have transport issues, can come back.”
The buses will be used to take staff between the NHS trust’s Watford General, St Albans City and Hemel Hempstead hospitals between about 6am and 10:30pm.
