Do you hear that sound? It’s faint, but if you listen closely, you might hear the sound of boxes being popped in a big, red sack, reindeer hooves on the ground, and sleigh bells ringing gently. Yup, Christmas is already on the way!
Okay, so not quite. London’s displays of Christmas lights and trees have (mercifully) not yet been taken out of storage. But one iconic Christmas destination has already opened its doors. The Harrods Christmas shop is already open. In July. With 5 months still to go until the big day…
Why is it open so early?
It’s become somewhat of a tradition for the Harrods Christmas shop to open extremely early each year – almost always in the height of summer. By giving shoppers almost 6 months to peruse their goods, they allow everyone from around the world to get a taste of the Harrods Christmas collection – without splurging on a Christmastime trip to the city.
And I’ve heard tell that some people genuinely love when Christmas arrives earlier and earlier each year. (Even if its impending arrival always gives me a cold sweat.) Knowing this, Harrods is more than happy to welcome them in for a taste of the festive season.

The Harrods Christmas shop
As you might expect from the iconic department store, there are a lot of luxury Christmas goods available for purchase. These range from Christmas decorations to trees, tableware, nutcrackers, luxury gifts, special Christmas food, and more.
While the store may already be open, Harrods is saving the in-store activations for later in the year. As December clutches the city in its icy grip, Harrods will host everything from Bauble Personalisation workshops to Biscuit Decorating workshops, and more.
