Feeling inspired by the Haig Club House Party and want to host your own event for friends?
We’ve teamed up with Haig Club to put together a top-notch guide on how to throw the ultimate stylish night in. From the cocktails to the music, the outfits and the food, here’s everything you need to know about pulling off your own elegant night.
The music
House parties might typically be a mixture of whoever’s savvy with a sound system playing the crowd pleasers from a playlist, but for a classy event you’ll want something a bit slicker. At the Haig Club House Party you’ll find a live band specializing in all of your favourite smooth & feel good disco, house & party songs. A live band might be slightly out of budget at home, but party-starting beats will always be a winner.
The cocktails
Gone are the days of poorly made punch: impress your guests with some excellently crafted cocktails in beautiful glassware for instant style points. For a simple, difficult-to-mess-up crowd pleaser, go for a Haig Club, Orange and Tonic. Featuring 25 ml Haig Club Clubman, Tonic water, ice and a slice of orange, it takes less than a minute to prepare and tastes delicious.
Or, if you want to go all out, we recommend mixing up a Passionate Haig Club. Passion fruit is native to Brazil, and coincidentally Scotch is adored there, so what better way to bring the two together than in a delicious tropical cocktail? Combine 50ml Haig Club Clubman, 25ml passion fruit syrup, 25ml lemon juice, 1 egg white (optional) and half a passion fruit to garnish for the perfect party pleaser.
You’ll find more Haig Club cocktails here to take inspiration from, or use as a base for creating your own Haig Club-inspired drinks. Just remember – Haig Club is all about making your own rules, so encourage your guests to experiment and play around with flavours to find their favourite serve.
The food
When it comes to food pairing, it’s not just wine that gets to have all the fun. The salty and sweet flavour of cured meats like Parma ham or Jamón Serrano go perfectly with a Haig Club cocktail or, if you’ve got more time on your hands, the subtle woody flavour of Haig Club goes great with seafood dishes.
If your stylish house party is more about the music and ambiance (read: or you’re short of time), then settle for olives and breadsticks. For those with a sweet tooth, try dark chocolate paired with the vanilla and butterscotch notes in Haig Club as a delicious combination.
The decor
The Haig Club House Party takes place at a renovated Victorian townhouse, so you can expect sleek white walls, dashings of colour and some very Instagrammable lighting. While there might be lit detailings and stylish furniture here, we’re not expecting you to renovate your entire house for one party (and, hopefully, your friends won’t either…) However, a dash of neon lights or wiring is an easy way to perk up any room without setting you back too much. If nothing else, settle for some tinted fairy lights or a disco ball for a classic party vibe.
