Nature-loving Londoners, listen up. You don’t need to be traversing the length and breadth of the country in search of the most gloriously green spots. Because it turns out that the greenest town in the UK is, rather unsurprisingly, just outside of London.
Holiday home sales provider, Away Resorts, took it upon themselves to uncover the loveliest and leafiest locations in the country. And according to their study (which analysed 182 UK destinations based on a series of wellness factors), the UK’s greenest town is just an hour from the capital city.
The greenest town in the UK
Reigning supreme as the greenest town of all is Wokingham. Boasting a whole host of luscious parks and nature reserves; the Berkshire town took the top spot due to having a rather impressive 85.2 square-metres of green space per person. It’s a true hidden gem for nature-loving Londoners, with the gorgeous likes of Rook’s Nest Wood Country Park and the Keephatch Park Nature Reserve helping it nab the crown. Away Resort’s study also based its findings on factors including access to walking trails within 10km, hours of sunshine per year and access to gyms.
