Live music fans rejoice! Even as festival season dies down across London, there is still at least one more festival to look forward to. And it’s taking place this weekend! Indie live music promotion platform Gotobeat is bringing us the Gotobeat Festival, which will make good use of this week’s sudden heat wave for a final taste of summer. Fresh off their inaugural festival last year, they’re back for more. And it’s all going down at a venue known for championing amazing music and live performance alongside delicious beer: Signature Brew.
For their second festival, Gotobeat is directly responding to what they see as failures on the part of other festivals. This year’s Glastonbury was widely criticized for its lack of female headliners and representation. Not pleased with the festival’s official response, Gotobeat decided it was up to them to set the bar with “a two-day festival championing all identities and encouraging a unity of communities in the independent live music industry.”
Said Max Busin, Gotobeat CEO:
“Last year’s Gotobeat Festival was amazing and we featured some incredibly talented artists (frankly, some of my all-time favorites). However, we missed the chance to have a bigger impact on the scene and lead the way for a more inclusive and diverse approach. Thankfully, also due to the support and feedback from our community, we realized it and this year we have decided to re-launch our flagship festival with increased attention to diversity and community. This is the biggest, boldest lineup we have ever put together and we are so excited about it”
Running across September 9 & 10, the festival will be your chance to say goodbye to summer. And since it’s happening at a brewery, you know the refreshments are going to be on point. As a two-time recipient of the Brewery Of The Year Award twice, Signature Brew makes inarguably delicious beer. It’s a glorious combination of passion, excitement, and great music – and we can’t wait!
Who’s performing?
With the festival split across two days, each day will be dedicated to specific musical styles. The first day will see attendees bouncing around to an alt-pop/indie-pop lineup. Meanwhile, the second day will be dedicated to the London R&B/soul scene. Alt-pop star Girli is headlining the first day of the Gotobeat Festival while rising R&B singer Kadeem Tyrell is taking the headline slot on Sunday.
Accompanying the two headliners is a roster of incredible acts from the independent London scene. They will in turn be complemented by DJ sets throughout the evening and into the night. Among the other confirmed artists performing are Beth McCarthy, Now Ex, Sophie Faith, LEMZI, and more.
It’s a simple formula: Great tunes. Great beer. And great vibes as well. You won’t want to miss out. Head to the website to find out more, and grab your ticket.
