Fashion fanatics, gather round. An exhibition dedicated to the innovative, influential, and oh-so iconic Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace, is landing in London this summer. Gianni Versace Retrospective will set up shop at Arches London Bridge on July 16, showcasing more than 450 original vintage pieces, including items worn by the legendary likes of Princess Diana, Kate Moss, Elton John, and George Michael.
Born in 1946, Gianni was beloved for his bold designs and striking aesthetic; becoming a trailblazing and transformative name in the world of fashion. The announcement of this major London show comes just a month after his sister, Donatella Versace, revealed that she would be stepping down as creative director of the company. A role she took on after Gianni was murdered in 1997.
Gianni Versace Retrospective
Various iterations of Gianni Versace Retrospective have previously been on display across Europe, but this will be the show’s London debut. And the exhibition has been updated and expanded for its run in the capital city. Aren’t we lucky? Featuring the largest collection of vintage Versace designs ever to be displayed in the UK, the exhibition will showcase 21 seasons of Versace’s work, spanning over a decade of his impressive career.
The ‘era-defining collection of fashion masterpieces’ will go on display alongside accessories, sketches, photographs, magazines, and original runway footage. Having been close friends with Elton John and Princess Diana, there will be items on display that showcase and celebrate Versace’s pivotal relationships.
Featuring the groundbreaking work that sky-rocketed the illustrious designer to a level of success that’s lasted long after his death; Gianni Versace Retrospective is sure to fulfil all of your fashion-filled fantasies. It’s certainly not one to be missed.
