Fancy munching on a cinnamon bun as the breeze of summer in London pours through your car window? With a Gail’s Bakery drive-thru, that could soon become an easy reality.
Gail’s Bakery can be found all around the UK (though you’ll find the vast majority in London, with the very first opening in Hampstead Heath in 2005!), with over 100 stores currently serving their beloved bread, pastries and coffees. They’re now looking to serve out of windows, and are on the hunt to secure 10 drive-thru locations in the next year.
According to Propel Hospitality, they’ve hired property advisor Forty Group to discover new sites between 2,000 square feet and 4,000 square feet, and space for 20+ cars.
So, soon you could be seeing Gail’s Bakery drive-thru alongside the drive-thru Costa, McDonalds and Starbucks drive-thru spots that we’re used to seeing on our travels. Plans currently state that these sites would be in London and the southeast of England.
Gail’s Bakery co-founder and CEO Tom Molnar said in an interview: “We are first and foremost a bakery, so it’s about the kitchen, and then if we have space for seating, we will add it in.
“We are always experimenting with new formats as it allows us to take advantage of different real estate opportunities that present themselves.”
There’s no word on where the first Gail’s Bakery drive-thru locations will be, but there should be further news in the next 12 months. Roll on pastry crumbs decorating all of our car seats!
