Calling all South London foodies (and anyone willing to cross the river for delicious eats) – a free-to-visit food festival will take over a London park next month, and you won’t want to miss it. The ‘Eat Around the World’ Camberwell Food Festival will pop up at Camberwell Green on May 16, with over 80 stalls of global flavours.
If you’re the kind of person who salivates at the thought of the incredible food to be found in countries around the world, this is the festival for you. After all, it’s pretty expensive to travel to all of the countries whose cuisines you want to taste! And that’s where the Camberwell Food Festival comes in. Describing itself as a “global culinary adventure”, the special event is “all about exploring amazing dishes from across the globe, all in one spot”.
It’s free to attend, and you don’t even need a ticket – just turn up with an appetite! Last year’s event saw thousands of people attending, and this year’s festival is set to be even bigger.
‘Eat Around the World’ Camberwell Food Festival
The international ‘Eat Around the World’ festival will feature over 80 stalls ranging across food traders, bars, and stands selling produce and ‘hyper-local food’. At one stall, you could chow down on food from Brazil or Venezuela. At another, you can quench your thirst with craft ales, wine, freshly-squeezed juices, Pimms, and more. Or you could browse hyper-local wares, such as honey, jam, and mead, made in Camberwell.
While the festival has a global focus, the ultimate emphasis is extremely local. While the flavours may come from all around the world, the festival celebrates the “local businesses and community organisations at the heart of [Camberwell’s] vibrant community.”
Plus, there’s even more to enjoy than global flavours. The festival will also feature live music, arts & crafts stalls and workshops, and free family activities. Kids can jump on the bouncy castle, take part in a penalty shoot-out, or get their face painted.
