You know we always keep our ears to the ground for the best cultural activities going on in the city. And now that summer is on the horizon, we’ve all got more of an appetite than ever for fun music events, tasty food and all round good times. If they’re all rolled into one? Even better! This summer the restaurants around Elephant Park are putting on a weekly programme of free live music performances whilst you enjoy some fantastic food and drinks inside their spaces and outside on their terraces. It’s all kicking off with a special opening launch event, outdoors in the park, on Saturday May 18.
Elephant Park’s leafy neighbourhood is full of award-winning independent businesses and local eateries. And over the summer months, you can enjoy all that these fantastic shops have to offer whilst enjoying an eclectic line-up of London’s up and coming musicians, singers and songwriters. But who have they got in store for the South Central London Live Launch Weekend?

From 1pm on Saturday May 18, Elephant Park will welcome Londoners to the West Lawn of the park for a full day of free al fresco music and fun. The first act of the weekend will be Yaz, a South East London based Arabic Jazz singer whose French and Palestinian heritage has greatly influenced her unique sound.
As the day goes on, you’ll be treated to sets from many more talented artists including Ludy’s Quartet who’ll take the stage at 2pm. The rest of the afternoon will bring Indie Pop singer Josh Pace at 3pm, Nu Jazz soloist Ellie Harris at 4pm and pop vocalist and pianist George Bone at 6pm.
You can enjoy another two hours of excellent music from Luena Martinez at Cheeky Chicos on Sunday May 19, before South London Central Live continues every Wednesday (6pm-8pm) and Sunday (3pm-5pm).
