If there’s one thing we Londoners love, it’s Guinness. Regardless of the weather, you’ll find us in beer gardens tossing back pint after pint of the creamy elixir. Our love for Guinness is perhaps only matched by our love for our dogs. And this weekend, you can share a free pint of the black stuff with your puppy pal for National Pet Day. (Except the drink is free for your pet, not for you!)
Celebrating National Pet Day (April 11) all weekend long, London’s Market Place Food Hall venues will be serving up special canine cocktails and doggy drinks for your best friend – absolutely for free! From April 10-13, they’re “treating pooches to a well-deserved, complimentary tipple to celebrate the love we have for our pets”.
And if you (and your pet) prefer cocktails to stout, don’t fret – there’s more than just Doggy Guinness up for grabs!
Special drinks for dogs
Especially for the weekend, Market Place Food Hall has created a menu of pet-friendly twists on some of the nation’s favourite drinks. These include:
- Barkarita – Coconut water, apple juice, lime zest, frozen blueberries
- Apawrol Spritz – Carrot juice, coconut water, orange garnish
- Doggy Guinness – Bone broth topped with whipped cream
Some of these sound good enough for us to drink ourselves!
How to get a free drink for National Pet Day
Fancy sharing a drink or an aperitif with your puppy pal for National Pet Day? It couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is take your dog along with you to a participating venue and order one of the drinks!
You don’t even need to get a proper drink for yourself! Although, realistically, are you going to let your best friend drink by themselves?
There are a few requirements to claim the free doggy drinks:
- Owners must be with their pets when ordering
- The offer is available on one drink per pet

The free doggy drinks are available while supplies last. Please note, too, that the St Paul’s venue is not open on Sunday, so you’ll want to head to one of the other venues if you’re visiting on Sunday!
