Poppies is the plaice to be.
Spitalfields’ finest has reopened for business. From Wednesday (June 3), Londoners are able to enjoy some famous fish ‘n’ chips out in the sun, courtesy of Poppies. [Featured Image: @popsfishnchips, Instagram]
Since lockdown restrictions have slightly relaxed, you and six socially distanced pals can grab a portion of the godly stuff and sit in your local park. Starting on Wednesday, Poppies’ Spitalfields site will be open from 12-8pm every day, for takeaway, click and collect, and delivery. Plans for the Soho and Camden Poppies sites are set for the following week, on June 10.
Besides their classic fish and chips, they also do a slap-up chip butty, battered sausages, and a selection of pies—all equipped with their famous thick cut chips. When complete with mushy peas, it doesn’t get mush better on a sunny day, does it?
So, if you were planning a very British, socially distant picnic, there is nowhere better to look. And of course, if you order from their Soho or Camden sites, you’ll even be able to add a beer from Camden Town Brewery to your meal.
The good news doesn’t stop there, either. Poppies’ best-selling items will start off at a discounted price, and you can even sign up for a voucher for a free wine or beer when you next dine in at the restaurant, once it reopens. Information about this offer can be found on their website.
This Wednesday, the first 10 customers through the door will receive a voucher for a free portion of fish and chips, or any other combo up to £10. Catch us (from a distance) at the front of the queue.
