Now, I really don’t want to jinx it but it seems as though the weather in London has finally decided to somewhat cooperate. After what’s felt like an eternity of drizzle and dreariness, we’ve actually had some (albeit rather fleeting) moments of sunshine and blue skies. And the good news just keeps on coming, folks – as this evening, London will be treated to its first post-6pm sunset since October. Can you believe it?
London’s first 6pm sunset of 2026
According to the data from Time and Date, the sun grace the capital city with its presence this evening until – drum roll, please… 6.01pm. Friday the 13th certainly is lucky for some, after all.

Londoners will then be able to continue basking in those post-6pm sunsets until March 29, when the clocks spring forward, British Summer Time begins, and the 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm sunsets start rolling in. Okay, I might be getting a tad ahead of myself here; it is still only March. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s never too soon to start dreaming about those long summer evenings spent al-fresco, captioning every single social media post ‘Costa Del Clapham’.
So, now that the temperature in London is starting to read the room, we can begin jam-packing our diaries with all sorts of springtime shenanigans. From parks and pub gardens to rooftops and running routes; there’s plenty of things to keep us busy now that the days are getting longer. And it you want a front row seat to London’s first post-6pm sunset tonight? Well, we’ve got you covered there, too.
