What better way to hide away from civilisation?
Tucked away in woodland near the Scottish border, about two hours from Manchester, you’ll find Faraway Treehouse – a gorgeous little woodland cabin perched high up in the treetops. It’s a far cry from the city life that we’re used to, swapping concrete and the sounds of scuffling humans and traffic, for wonderful nature and the peaceful songs of nearby tweeting birds.

It’s the perfect socially-distanced getaway, so hidden from civilisation that you can barely see it nestled away within the trees. Once you do find the treehouse, however, the real fun begins – with guests required to climb up the staircase at the back to reach the idyllic property.
The surrounding nature follows you all the way inside, with the entire property adorned in wooden panelling from floor-to-ceiling, with trailing ivy creeping around the beams and furniture, and even into the bathroom.
Upon walking in, you’re greeted with gorgeous views of undisrupted woodland and countryside, with a lovely little pond right in front of the property reflecting the sunlight and attracting local wildlife such as deer and dragonflies. The perfect view to take in while lounging in front of the cosy log burner with your feet up.
Elsewhere in the property, there’s a freestanding tub that sits right in front of the window looking out into the woods (you can guarantee no nosey neighbours are around for miles), with scenic views best enjoyed with a glass of your favourite tipple.
The kingsize bedroom is a magical nature wonderland in its own right, combining comfort with greenery and even hiding away a little bunk for kids to sleep on – adding even more adventure to the whole place.
Situated by a farm, there’s plenty to do nearby, with the woods to explore, a nearby river for a bit of wild swimming, and a few cows along the way to say hello to, too. Wander out to the heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall, or pop by the lovely Talkin Tarn where you can enjoy a little boat ride with a short, scenic 1.3 mile walk around it.
The treehouse comes fully equipped with all the facilities you need to feel home-from-home, including a kitchen and bathroom, and when you step outside, you’ll find a rustic little balcony where you can enjoy your morning cuppa and a spot of breakfast, or plan a romantic little date night with a homemade meal.
