Famed for his emotionally fuelled installations, pristine detailing, and architectural sculptures, Do Ho Suh has completely transformed the Tate Modern with his brand-new exhibition The Genesis.
Suh has spent decades asking one deceptively simple question during his astounding career: What is home? Is it a place, a feeling, or a fleeting memory? Well, his first major London showcase invites the viewer to walk through his past, using life-sized replicas of the homes he’s lived in, made from translucent fabric.

He is an artist who has lived all over the world–from Seoul and New York to even our beloved London. These installations, from the delicate corridors and doorways to the light switches and doorknobs, the intricate details are woven together in a riot of colour and light, blurring the boundaries between the past and the present, public and private, as well as cultures from across the globe.

The centerpiece, entitled Nests (2024), is a labyrinthine network of entryways that dares you to question where one home ends and another begins. From his childhood home in Seoul to his London flat, the lines between cities, and even decades, is designed to melt away.
This exhibition also features Suh’s thread drawings, paper works, and video installations. Suh’s work is immersive by design, brought to life here at this brand-new exhibit; it allures you to wander, linger, and fill the immersive space with your own memories and interpretations, perhaps changing your perceptions of home in the process.
So, don’t miss out on this fabulous exhibition at the Tate Modern. Don’t miss our all-encompassing exhibition round-up if you’re planning your next art crall.
