Us Brits will deep fry just about anything if you give us the chance. And considering that nothing says Christmas quite like mince pies, it was only a matter of time…
Yes, that’s right, folks: Soho fish and chip favourite, Poppies, have stepped up to the plate fryer and are serving up deep fried mince pies this Christmas.
Between December 11-25 (yes, they’re even open on Christmas Day), passers-by can pop in to get their hands on a rich, buttery mince pie, encased in a joyously warm and crispy coat of batter. Who could possibly resist?
Oh, and you can expect them to be top-notch, since this certainly isn’t Poppies’ first rodeo in the fried festive goods department. In years gone by, Poppies have unveiled a plethora of deep-fried Christmas concoctions, including Quality Streets, pigs in blankets, and Ferrero Rochers. Why, I hear you ask? Because it’s Christmas, of course.
Speaking on this year’s deep fried Christmas confectionery, the late Pops’ son Danny Newland said: “We’ve been tempted by mince pies for a while as they are such an iconic, and delicious, part of Christmas. In the spirit of the season, each portion comes with 3 mini mince pies for spreading good cheer – or for fully indulging in yourself!”
Have we piqued your interest? Got your eyes on the pies? Then head on down to Poppies Soho between December 11-25 to nab your portion for £4.75.
