Listen up, folks. I come bearing yet another legendary listing to have recently hit the property market. Today’s offering comes in the form of a picture perfect pad that used to belong to rock-and-roll royalty, David Gilmour. The iconic Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist lived in the property in question for a decade during the height of the beloved band’s fame. The detached farmhouse, named Woodley, is located in the village of Roydon (a spot that was recently named the very best London commuter town) – and it’s just been put up for sale for £1.1 million.
David Gilmour is thought to have snapped up the farmhouse in 1970, just a few years after he was invited to join Pink Floyd. He moved into the property with his first wife, Virginia Hasenbein (AKA Ginger) and the pair renovated the house and lived there until 1980.
The property
The rather gorgeous gaff spans 2,203 square-feet, set across 2 floors, and surrounded by 4.66 acres of ‘park-like’ grounds. The property comes complete with its own lake (with an island in the middle), a collection of outhouses and garages (one of which was previously used as Gilmour’s home recording studio and another that featured on the front of his solo album cover), and a swimming pool that was supposedly dug by Gilmour himself.
The farmhouse has been plonked on the property market courtesy of Savills, who have said that it’s in need of ‘extensive modernisation’. There’s a kitchen, utility room, panty and 3 reception rooms on the downstairs, five bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs, and the house itself is reached via a rather lengthy gravel driveway.

David Bloomfield, director of the residential sales team at Savills in Loughton, said: “There are several articles documenting David Gilmour’s time at Woodley in the early 1970s with one of the outbuildings believed to have been used as a recording studio.
“Set in wonderful grounds, it offers the ideal opportunity for a buyer to put their own stamp on a fine, historic home with a link to one of the UK’s pioneering rock bands.”
