Over in Canada Water, across the bridge from the station, an exciting new venue has just opened. Corner Corner is a new food hall and community space that looks set to become one of the most exciting destinations in the area. The team behind the venture describe it as a “vibrant hub where food, culture, and community come together under one roof”. And there’s even more going on behind the scenes, supporting the wider community.
To create the venue, Broadwick has joined forces with the folks from KERB food. KERB is the team behind some of London’s most popular street food destinations, such as the Seven Dials Market, and is bringing its street food expertise to curate the food and drink offerings. At the heart of the offering is Café by Sireli. Open seven days a week, they’re serving up Middle Eastern small plates and fried chicken inspired by Armenian and Levantine flavours.
The food hall vendors are open from Thursday to Sunday, alongside the bar, in conjunction with the venue’s live events. Offerings range across an award-winning taco vendor (Masa Tacos), fried chicken experts (Chick N Sours), and comforting Taiwanese street food (Jou Jou Bites). On the drinks side of things, guests can expect coffee and fresh juices during the day and all manner of cocktails, local beers, and specialty wines into the evening.
Meanwhile, the Broadwick team is flexing its event programming muscles with a special lineup of live music and activities in the space. The emphasis is on the weekly series of live jazz, as well as rotating DJs. For the opening season, events are free to attend. Find out what’s on here.
More than just a food hall
But Corner Corner is about more than just street food and live events. The multi-use space features co-working areas to support creativity and collaboration. It’s also home to one of the newest immersive experiences to hit London.
Inside Corner Corner, you’ll find the exciting new immersive Minecraft experience, which has just landed in London. Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue drops visitors right into the action of the long-running, beloved game. Recreating the game on a life-size scale, the playable experience takes players through seven different biomes – or Minecraft worlds – as they chop down trees, collect resources, and fight mobs of spiders, creepers, and skeletons.
As if that wasn’t enough, Corner Corner also houses “London’s biggest commercial indoor vertical farm”. Within a controlled environment, the team can grow crops year-round without using any pesticides. By providing exactly the right growing conditions, they also keep the related waste to a minimum.
The indoor farm provides produce to the Food Hall vendors and supplies restaurants across London. If you’re curious, you can even book a tour of the farm and “learn about plant life cycles, crop rotation, compositing and biodiversity, plus much more.”
So, what do you say? Fancy a trip to the farm food hall cafe Corner Corner?
