Two four-day weeks in a row, and the fridge is brimming with chocolate, ready to be eaten at any time. Easter is definitely one of the most underrated times of year. But if the usual Easter eggs just aren’t cutting it for you this year, there’s a fresh take on the tradition that’ll elevate the whole chocolate-eating experience to the next level.
London’s dessert scene is cracking open the seasonal tradition, and what’s inside is far more interesting than empty air. One cookie bar is swapping disappointment for cookie dough, creating a treat that redefines the classic Easter egg from Blondies Kitchen.
How Blondie’s Kitchen makes its filled Easter egg
The process starts with a milk chocolate egg, split in half to create two edible bowls. These are then filled with the brand’s signature safe-to-eat cookie dough, of which there are three flavours to choose from. The treat is assembled right in front of you. There are plenty of toppings to choose from, but when our videographer paid a visit, her scoop of dough was mixed with pastel-coloured mini eggs for crunch, followed by a handful of rainbow sprinkles. The entire mixture is then pressed into one half of the chocolate egg.
To finish, the creation is drizzled with a sauce of your choice, with options including chocolate, Kinder Bueno and pistachio, and then you’ll get one more scattering of sprinkles. The filled egg costs £7.99 and comes served in a box with a spoon, ready to eat on the go.
