They’ve got six afternoon tea options, including the only beer afternoon tea in London – which is priced at £65 per person – featuring three carefully selected craft beers to accompany your festive fancies. Yes, it does sound a bit bizarre, but it turns out hazelnut beer is a surprisingly perfect accompaniment to a plate full of dainty finger sandwiches. Christmas is a time for indulgence, right?
And don’t worry if beer’s not your style, the traditional option is absolutely available if you’d rather spend your afternoon sipping on a cup of earl grey. These guys are so accommodating you could probably request a piña colada afternoon tea and they’d make it happen! And, if you’re anything like us at Secret London HQ, you’ll seizing as many opportunities to drink mulled wine as possible before the festive season comes to a close. Highlights include the classic yule log, clementine and pistachio slice and the cranberry and chocolate scones. They’ve even come up with a special ‘Christmas blend’ tea as an accompaniment. This one costs £45.50 including a glass of champers and is available until 31st December.
If taking afternoon tea on a bus wasn’t novel enough for you, wait until you try this festive edition from the lovely people at B Bakery. Gaze out at London’s Christmas lights and whizz past London’s best-known landmarks with a cup of tea in one hand and a Chestnut Mushroom Quiche in the other. Talk about multitasking! The tours start from £45, the festive tea is available until the 31st December, and you’ll need to book in advance online to secure your departure slot.
Taj 51 at Buckingham Gate is known for it’s intricately themed afternoon tea selection, and this winter-themed offering is no exception. The attention to detail here is incredible – everything from the table linen to the crockery has been carefully chosen to showcase their Christmas-inspired tea. Alongside their traditional sandwiches you’ll also be able to try chestnut and hazelnut macarons, pink champagne and cranberry jellies, and marshmallow snowmen. This afternoon tea is priced at £35 per person and is available until the 31st December.
Marbled chocolate Balieys truffle lollipops. Need we say more? This tea from Royal Lancaster London includes gingerbread macarons, a spiced cranberry marshmallow teacake and (of course) homemade mince pies. You’ll even be able to get your yearly pigs in blankets fix a few weeks early, because this tea serves them up with a honey mustard dressing. Merry piggin’ Christmas! You can enjoy this afternoon tea for £35 per person and it’s available all the way up until the 7th January.
This traditional afternoon tea from Royal Lancaster London has been brought up to date with a little Christmas sparkle. Set within The Marylebone Hotel’s 108 Pantry, you can expect to munch happily on Christmas pudding-flavoured scones in style. There’s even a gluten-free menu so you coeliacs won’t need to feel left out. Merry Christmas to all, remember?
