And it seems as though the travel experts over at Expedia have read my mind like a guide book on this one. Because they’ve just released their ‘Destinations of the Year’ for next year, revealing the 10 trending travel spots that have been the fastest-growing in popularity recently.
Using real search data, the holiday hot-shots were able to locate the places that may not be splashed all over social media just yet, but are well on their way. From Hyogo to Holbox, the 10 destinations that made the cut are scattered across the globe. But it turns out that one of the most up-and-coming travel destinations can actually be found just 90 minutes from London.
The ancient city of Chichester found itself perched at number 10 on Expedia’s list. The only city in West Sussex, Chichester is filled to the brim with history and culture – with something gorgeous to gawp at with every turn. Expedia’s findings revealed that searches for Chichester have increased by 30% compared to last year, making it one to watch in terms of 2027 travel trends.
Chichester boasts a cathedral that dates back almost 1000 years, an impressively-intact Roman city walls that span roughly 1.5 miles, and a whole load of things to see and do. Home to an abundance of independent shops, a world-renowned theatre, and plenty of culture to sink your teeth into, I think it’s safe to say that Chichester is well worth a visit.
Getting to Chichester from London
Chichester is roughly a 2-hour drive from London and there are plenty of parking options upon arrival. Non-drivers can hop on a direct train from Clapham Junction that’ll get you to Chichester in around 90 minutes.
