Every day we celebrate the work of the feminist movement, but on International Women’s Day, we highlight the progress made and the challenges still ahead. And among all the platforms there are to empower women, music, time and time again, has served as an engine to carry this message. So, when Beyoncé sang “Who Runs the World? Girls“, we knew she was onto something. The truth is, there’s no lie in that statement.
Artists like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are among the many musicians who dedicate their work to women’s empowerment, making noise wherever they go. In fact, Candlelight’s stunning tributes do exactly that, honour the work of artists that push forward for women’s equity.
Celebrate womanhood with A Tribute to Beyoncé
On March 17, you can hear the sweet melodies of some of Queen B’s greatest hits, surrounded by a sea of candles. Pay tribute to songs that empower women and encourage them to embrace their femininity and sexuality in all forms.
On this stunning night, you’ll jam to songs from her 2016 album Lemonade which deeply explores black womanhood and its depictions of women’s resilience in the face of adversity. As well as, songs from her recent album Renaissance, with which Beyoncé broke the record for the artist with most Grammys, and it’s an ode to the queer ballroom scene of the 80s.
Everyday is International Women’s Day with Taylor Swift
Then, on April 14 –Yes, April! We did say we celebrate women every day– feel empowered by the music of Taylor Swift as you hear all of her songs played, note by note, by the amazing City String Ensemble. Honour an artist vocal about LGBTQ+ rights, the #MeToo movement and gender inequality in the music industry.
Shake It Off to some of Taylor’s fan favourites like All Too Well, Cardigan, Lover, I Knew You Were Trouble and many more. Songs that encourage women to challenge the status quo and explore their deep desires because that’s where they’ll feel fully empowered.
So, put on your favourite outfit, whether it’s elegant or smart-casual, and treat yourself to a memorable musical experience.
