If you cast your mind back to a few (festive) months ago, you might remember the irresistible Christmas light display at Carnaby Street. Why do we bring this up in March, when we’re basically gearing up for summer mode, I hear you ask?
Well, the kaleidoscopic butterfly installation cast a message of hope back in December, working in collaboration with humanitarian charity Choose Love, and now they hope to do something similar.
Now that the butterflies are down from their Christmas duties, they are being sold for donations to raise funds for the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Choose Love are selling the butterflies on Carnaby Street this week, giving new life to the 600 creatures used to light up London over Christmas.
You’ll find them on Thursday (March 10) and Friday (March 11) over at 3 Carnaby Street between 12 -2pm, and you can purchase a butterfly for prices starting at £5, and all funds go to Choose Love, who are currently raising money for the Ukraine Crisis Fundraiser. You can read about and donate to the fundraiser here.
Philli Boyle, Director of Partnerships at Choose Love, said: “We are over the moon that the beautiful Carnaby butterflies are going to lovely new homes and it’s even more special that everything shoppers spend on them will be donated to us!
“It’s still winter time and the conditions in the places we are working are really tough. Choose Love has raised millions to support refugees and created a movement of people putting love into action around the world and are working to raise funds for humanitarian aid in the Ukraine. This support will be a huge help. Thank you so much to our Carnaby family for always choosing love!”
Choose Love have raised millions to support refugees and displaced people around the world, providing rescue boats, legal advice and much, much more. You can read about their mission here.
Head to 3 Carnaby Street on March 10 – 11 at 12 – 2pm to donate to Choose Love and receive a butterfly from the Christmas lights installation.
